Zabriskie Point was the very first spot I visited on my first trip to Death Valley. It's basically a lookout point that provides one of the nicest views in the park. From the parking area, it is only a 5 minute walk up to the circular viewing area. Zabriskie Point was named for a borax mine superintendent, who is pictured below on the former sign that marked the area.  The lookout area has been used in music videos and album photo shoots for major artists.  There is a trail to the right of Zabriskie Point which leads to both Golden Canyon and Gower Gulch.  In the past, we have been dropped off at Zabriskie Point in order to do a one way hike down, which only takes about one hour to either place.

This former sign which described how Zabriskie Point received its name is now gone.  Some considered the sign controversial because it touched on slave labor which was used in the park a long time ago:
