Greenwater Canyon is a unique and special place that I will always appreciate. It's an enjoyable hike whether you are hiking in from the western side or the eastern side. During the hike, you walk through several different canyons, seeing different rock types and walls. It's an isolated area to visit, where you won't be seeing any other people, just wildlife such as coyotes and rabbits.  My friends and I have hiked in from both sides at different times, and we have hiked the entire canyon.
Entering from the western side of the canyon, this mountain of rocks is visible looking up to your left during the early part of the hike:
If you look closely in this picture, you can spot two of our friends up on the hillside getting great views of the canyon:

We found this large nest placed in a perfect area where it wouldn't be disturbed by other wildlife:
Now we have moved on closer to the mid canyon along the route:

This picture was taken at the far eastern entrance to Greenwater Canyon.  We drove in all the way to this place where you have to park your vehicle and walk in, and it took us over an hour of driving off road to get here.  Since this picture was taken (in 2006), the current road closure has been moved closer to the real park boundary and has two large wilderness restoration signs and two posts marking the closure:
